Day 7: Assumption Check
Our minds are constantly making assumptions—quick judgments that help us navigate daily life. But how often do we pause to question whether these assumptions are actually true?
Today's reflection invites you to:
Identify one assumption you made today (about a situation, person, or outcome)
Consider what evidence you have that it's true
Imagine how letting go of this assumption might change your feelings or actions
Example situations where assumptions often creep in:
When someone doesn't respond to your message immediately
When plans change unexpectedly
When interpreting someone's tone or facial expression
Reflection prompts:
What emotion arose when you made this assumption?
How might this assumption be limiting you?
What alternative explanation might be equally possible?
Remember: Assumptions are often stories we tell ourselves, not facts. By recognizing them, we create space for more accurate and compassionate interpretations of our experiences.
